House rules

By booking your stay, you are stating that you have read and are agreeing to follow all policies of the Lava Hale

• Check in: 4PM / Check out: 10am

• Only Authorized Guests approved at the time of booking are allowed to be on the property

• Neighborhood “Quite” Time is from 9:00pm to 8am
Not only is this a local rule, it is also a requirement if operating a vacation rental in Hawaii county. Noise after 9pm must be kept to a minimum, this includes when outside using lanais

• No Parties or Events!

• Absolutely NO shoes inside the house or on the lanais
This is a Hawaiian tradition & also necessary to help us protect the floors. Even the smallest lava rock can heavily damage the floors!

• Do Not Track Sand or Dirt inside the House
If you are sandy from the beach, or muddy and dirty from an island adventure, please clean yourself and rinse off as much as you can before going up the steps or inside the home.
*Additional Fee will be accessed for excessive sand or dirt tracked in the home *

• Please Do Not Set Anything Wet on Furniture or on the Floors.
Wet items can be hung outside on the lanais, but please do not hang items on/over furniture

• No Smoking In the House or anywhere on The Lava Hale grounds!
If you smoke, you must go down the driveway and across the street to the grassy area. Be sure to dispose of all cigarettes properly. Please do not litter in the street or throw hot butts in to garbage cans

• No Animals of Any Kind
We love pets, but unfortunately due to a severe medical condition we can not have them as guests in our home. At times friendly neighborhood cats may come visit, but please shoo them away! Do not feed them or allow them on the outside furniture or inside the home.

• No candles, incense, or any combustible items inside the home, or on any of the lanais
This unique home constructed mainly of woods, so we need to take extra precautions to be safe

• Please Turn off lights and Running Water
We LOVE Mother Nature, and do all we can to protect her! On site we are on solar and collect pure Hawaiian Rain for our water, so ask you to help conserve energy and water during your stay

• Do Not Move or Re-arrange Furniture or Home Items
Antiques and other items have been placed throughout the home intentionally, moving things can cause damage to both the item and the floors. Please enjoy things where they're found

• Dark Sky Policy- After 9pm lights must be kept low, and outdoor lights must be turned off
Our island is home to some of the world’s most famous space telescopes, so light pollution is reduced to provide better visibility for the scientists. It also makes our stargazing unbelievable!

*Limiting lights will also help minimize unwanted tropical bugs, which are attracted to any light*

Surrounded by the lush rainforest and your own private garden, this Hale offers two floors of separate living space in one home.

Recently upgraded with new beds and additional loving touches of aloha, The Lava Hale is an outstanding option for larger families or two groups traveling together (usually requiring two separate hotel bookings to be able to stay together)

This home is also the perfect choice for a couple or small group, wanting the extra space and privacy that our home tucked away in the rainforest provides.
